the Real Jesus: week 3

on sunday we talked about Jesus as the "light of the world" and how He exposes sin and helps keep us on the right track. hopefully it all made sense for the most part and the concept of living a life in the light of Christ versus fumbling in the darkness of sin was clear.

a couple discussion items:

  • in the same way that the blind man's condition was used to glorify God, how have you experienced similar situations? what was the outcome?

  • we talked about having mountain top spiritual experiences and how that makes satan try even harder to pull us down. have you experienced times in your life like this? how did you overcome?

just remember that Christ is there for you lighting the way and taking our hand (isaiah 42:16) He will never forsake us or give up on us!

blessings on the week ahead!

1 - The lightbulb in the lamp above my computer is about to burn out. I know this because it's flickering. Light/Dim/Light/Dim and I'm sitting here distracted by the flicker but still not doing anything. (mostly because I don't have any lightbulbs in my house but that doesn't have anything to do with the point.)

When darkness comes into my life its almost more of a distracted flicker (work frustrations, family troubles, temptations, etc.) I know I need to work on fixing the light (praying, reading my bible, real relating to people etc.) but the flicker is something so easy to just let happen and eventually I've ended up so that that distraction is my focus.

Fixing the light when it seems like there is more bad than good things going on is truly difficult. In those times that I need help and it doesn't seem like God's listening - I make sure to take action and reach out to people or participate in activities that are beacons for God's light or in other times I've found someone whose life appears much darker than my own and somehow in reaching out to them, God's powerful light starts to be the flicker that I'm distracted by.

On a different tangent, I wanted to say thank you to the musicians who lend their talents to "reflect light" in our worship. It may be God's music I whistle during the week but it was because of your talented hands that I heard it in the first place. (Comment this)
