New Series

April 30th we're kicking of a new series.  I'm anxious to get into it.  We will be walking through the book of John and examinining who Jesus is according to his own words.  There are a lot of voices out there selling us many versions of who he was.  At the heart of this series is the most eternally important question we could ever answer.  If he is who the DaVinci code says, or the Jesus papers or the slew of tv documentaries state he is then he was no more than a man and we are hopeless.  If he is the son of God, the perfect sacrifice, the Lord of our lives then that affects everything.  I am looking forward to exploring this, to face doubt and ask questions.  Who is he, makes all the difference.

3 - It sure would be nice to see comments from more folks -- (no offence intended to Tina and Anonymous..... ) How about e-mailing the blog url to the Genesis e-mail list inviting them to go on to the site and check it out? This site is a great place for dialogue, but more folks need to get involved. Some other ideas would be to offer something one week to folks who share thier thoughts..... a drawing for a Caribou Coffee card..or something like that... or host a survey online... or invite some members to share a testimony... or raffle off a parking space for a month close in to the Genesis room.... you get the idea. (Comment this)

4 - Great ideas ombudsman. Way to step out and "do" something although I'd hope that we could get people talking without freebies.

I have a hunch this next topic may generate some discussion. (Fingers crossed!)

I was thinking that during Vicar Mat's sermon tonight that one of those stretchable moments I've been given is to get to know scripture so I can get comfortable sharing it, but without someplace "safe" to practice or always looking to the counselors to preach it for me - how will I ever develop my own voice?

I guess sometimes I just must seem like I don't have much to do to be on the blog as much as I am but I rather enjoy seeing what other people write and for me blogging is just a way to fuel the inner-poet of my soul.

Please know that I too am waiting to read what you have to say about the sermon - or anything else. Share your thoughts, share a scripture, a cool moment out in the world where God may have spoke to you or you shared your faith with someone.

Other topics have generated some interesting discussion (think about the baptism off-shoot we had months ago) I'm going to stay positive. Have a great week! (Comment this)
