2 - Thinking back to growing up around church and knowing what I don’t have a clue about now, I wonder what life would be like now if that time had been less about habit and more about heart?

Ah, I still struggle between rote actions and true feeling. Point of illustration is pretty much every Christmas Eve my brother and I tend to look at each other and something childish kicks in and we stare each other down during one of the more obscure hymns like Angels We Have Heard On High to see who can remember more of the words before looking down to their hymnal. Stupid game not really worthy of God but sort of illustrates what distraction can do for a moment?

I admire those who allow themselves to sing loudly or raise their hands or clap. (YAY – Baptism!!!) I’m so not there yet. I do appreciate that God has led me to this place to work on my heart some more.

I'm so far from figuring anything out. I have been wondering more about what do I do to prepare for worship? How do I express the song in me? How many pieces of baggage do I bring with and carry home? What could I do to extend worship through the week? (But like Tim shared last week, it is tough to not be pulled by the everyday business of life.)

I also got terribly upset with a couple of people in my family this week when I heard they didn't attend church on Easter Sunday. The idea that they now aren't even Christmas and Easter attendees just made me really sad and I admit I really sort of layed out a guilt trip that they didn't really appreciate and really wasn't my place to say. (Comment this)
