When all else fails...

Today the main talk was about what, in the end, really matters. Truthfully everything that we know and the things that we invest most of our lives in are temporary. In the end, as Matthew 6 makes very clear there is only one treasure that is eternal. My hope is that we all step back and take a hard look at what is and isn't important. What will, and will not last.

What do you all think? What gives you perspective?

Doubt

I just had one of the busiest Sundays in history, so you'll have to forgive me for being brief.

In Jeremiah 12 our prophet is tired, he is not seeing the fruit of his labor and he brings a question, a doubt before God.

The main points: Doubt is a part of a growing faith. Just like testing a muscle makes it stronger so does testing faith.

Jesus says, Seek and you will find. That is a promise. Don't look for Him to answer in the way you expect. But look for Him to answer. Seek Him, look for Him. Speak to Him. And He will answer.

Other passages we looked at today were... Psalm 37 and Psalm 73

peace friends-

Independance Day

Great discussion on the last post. I'd love to get some better forums for that kind of interaction. We'll see where we go.

Today was a Jeremiah 8 and Independence Day link... Freedom is not Free. It comes at a cost. Our freedom from British rule came at the cost of a war and the blood of those who fought. Our freedom, forgiveness and eternity comes only by the cost of Jesus blood on the cross. Freedom is never free.

Other key images: the splinter- Sometimes part of God healing our wounds means digging deeper to get at the cause. His desire is healing, not to inflict pain.

the firework: the firework is a symbol that celebrates both victory and sorrow. So does the cross. This symbol of torture now represents life, eternal life.
