Acts 15: Today's Word

Don't know about you but I enjoyed worship today!  Here are couple of thoughts and challenges from today's word.  I'm interested to hear what you think.

There are some core truths to our faith that we often take for granted.

The natural result of that is to move our eyes off of God and onto ourselves.

A core truth that is so often glazed over or taken for granted is that we are saved, by Grace because of what Jesus did. "period"

He mended the broken.  He was broken in our place.

Funny as I read this it sounds just like what we talked about.  We've all heard it 1,000 times, but do we really know what it is to be captured by, enamored by that knowledge.  To truly appreciate what salvation means for us... eternally!

So, the challenge and the question.  How can we live with this kind of perspective?  How do we not get lost in the sea of everything else and keep ourselves focused?  What does it mean to let that capture your thoughts and your heart?

What do you think?

Acts 14: Humility

Let’s keep this discussion on humility going.  Here goes . . .

This week’s message challenged you to think about humility.  Humility is such an abstract concept- hard to get a handle on.  What is humility?

And here’s a ‘hot topic’ related to humility- Is the Christian church humble? Often, we are accused of being self-righteous and arrogant.  I challenged us this morning to practice humility when responding to issues in our culture.  This means not acting like we’ve got it all figured out.  So . . . when should the church speak with certainty and boldness, and when should the church be more humble? Do you think the Christian church is humble? Or do you think we are too humble and need to be more bold in getting our message out? I’d love to hear from you . .

More than words: Acts 10

Key thought of the day...

In this pursuit of accountability and authentically living our faith how do we, "Let our words be few and our lives be loud."?

A clarification someone pointed out to me...

The idea of seperation between Jews and Gentiles was not a completely man made thing.  In fact at one point Jesus tells his disciples only to go to the sheep of Israel.  Also, the Levitical law was clear that there should be a distance between the people of Israel and other nations.  What shouldn't be lost in that is that it was equally clear throughout Old Testament and through Jesus that salvation is for all. That the seperation was to protect the people of Israel from losing the message not that it was for them only. These walls and barriers need to be knocked down for the sake of all people.

Anyway, please never be afraid to correct.  If anything is not in line with Scripture, it needs to be pointed out.
