Testify

God is there, everywhere, waiting for the lost who have chosen to stray to find their way back to him.

It's got to be tough to be a parent.  To know when to discipline and lead and when to let go and hope your child will not get lost.

There's a whole lot of "stuff" that pulls us from God.  For some four year olds, spending four hours in a cobbler shop admiring moon boots can be a distraction, for others, work, life, family, sports, television, and other things of this world pull us from the only One who matters.

How do you you keep from being distracted?

Happy Mother's Day and have a great week!  Tina

1 - I have to admit that I was distracted by the cobbler story. Just the word cobbler brings to mind Hans Christian Anderson and Pinnochio and well, it took my mind away from the story at hand for a moment or three. Also, have to say that as a former customer service manager at the mall, can you just imagine what would have happened if a four year old wandered alone into a store and hung out for hours nowadays?

I said what I did about being a parent because I have observed this with my own parents. I've been blessed however I have seen their struggle to stay out of our decisions so that we might learn from our own mistakes and I can see what a toll it takes. Translate that for the many times I second guess if I'm hearing God correctly and I'm sure it's got to be frustrating for Him to see me wandering from the path he wants me on. (Comment this)

2 - To see people you love not believe or scorn christianity is also tough. To wonder if they will ever accept God, to continue to pray for them and even for the darkness present in their relationship with you. (Comment this)

3 - Both comments are great thoughts, bring to my mind times when like Peter, out of fear, (from what... what the world thinks..) I claim that I don't know Him, claim that not vocally, but by my actions, for the sake of stylish moon boots that I covet. In our culture it is so hard to sacrafice the disposable luxuries, would we be better christians if we met outside without air conditioning and natural sunlight to save on utilities cost for the summer. Give the money we save to missionaries or the food shelf or would I just complain that I can't hear the sermon and I was distracted by Pastor Ben sweat stained shirt and the sweet smell of charcoal burning from someones freshly lit grill drifting through the neighborhood, I would like to think that I could be that magnanamous of a tool in God's hand, but I know to well that Christ needs to put this tool back in the fire to draw out the dross from this material He created for His nobel purpose and not for the instruments own pleasure and comfort. OK that was really long, sorry about that! Leo (Comment this)
