Life

How much of what you are focused on won't mean anything five years from now?

Life is temporary.  Jesus is FOREVER.  For some of us (me included) this is sometimes glazed over much like an Easter ham.  We say "HE IS RISEN INDEED" as the easily repeated phrasing at Easter services but do we even understand that the enormity of THAT huge truth?  That our hope is only found in JESUS and HIM alone.

We looked at the following text:

Genesis 3

Matthew 28

1 Corinthians 15:12-34

Have you heard it all before?  Are you moved by the Victory of the Resurrection?

Do you have joy and fear in your relationship with God?

One thing I wondered - if so many people don't have joy and fear in their relationship with God, how do they get there?  It's such a spectrum of feeling.  Does having a healthy balance of both help make you respect and maybe live a little in awe of the enormity of your relationship with God?

Do we casually just accept this Truth or does it become to mean something more than we could even imagine? So how do we KNOW IT and LIVE IT?

Because of His resurrection there is HOPE.

We deserve death because of our sin.  That's an awfully heavy burden to carry unless we understand the rest - that we have LIFE and HOPE through Jesus and only Him.

JESUS IS RISEN.  I hope you had a blessed Easter!   Tina

1 - A friend of mine likes to blog and is quite vocal about her ideas. She doesn't believe in God. She respects my beliefs but that's as far as it goes. Which is why it was ironic today to read her blog entry which was all about her idea of what Heaven will be like when she gets there.

I also rather appreciated the example of taking your belief outside of the world's beliefs and just living it like Christopher Columbus' bucking of the traditionally held belief that the world was flat.

That we live in a country where we can loudly proclaim our belief and not be jailed or killed.

But how often do I pass up opportunities to challenge faulty thinking to fit in with the world or not make waves with my friends?

We are called to live beside unbelievers and witness to them and I'm really looking forward to the next sermon series because of statements like a few weeks ago when someone said something to the extent of "holding them at an arms length" until they believe. How can you relate from that far away or is that what you are supposed to do? (Comment this)

3 - Jessica,
Just visited your blog entry. I have prayed for you already. I routinely pray for people I don't know (e.g., the EMTs and the patient in that ambulance that just went screaming by), along with those that I do. As for problems that I don't understand, my life is full of them--all the more reason to pray because He understands what I cannot. For me, it takes some of the fear out of my unknowns. If you want to be more specific as to your prayer wishes, I can send you an e-mail address. (Comment this)
